NICU - vCreate

vCreate NICU Diaries is a Secure Video Messaging service that supports family engagement in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

In 2018 we became the first Neonatal Unit in the North West to initiate Vcreate and since this time all North West Neonatal Units have initiated the secure video messaging service. This has supported the continuation of the video diaries when babies have been transferred to and from our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

• How to register on vCreate

  Step 1 - Register an account (*note - one account per family)

  - Set your preferred language in the drop down box and all messages sent to you within the app will appear in your chosen language and all messages sent to the unit will appear in English

  - Click on ‘Register for a parent account’

  - Enter email address and password

  - Enter first and last name

  - Click “Register”

  Step 2 - Confirmation of account activation

  Once you receive an activated email from the unit you can then login and access your account.

  Step 3 - Log in to your account

  - Click on the link within the email / SMS and login with your credentials.

  - Click on ‘Update my Details’ and insert mobile number for SMS alerts.

  Step 4 - Accessing your video clips / photos

  - You will be alerted by email when a video / photo is ready to view

  - You will be redirected straight to your video / photo

  - Click on 'Browse' or 'Back to search results' to view any other videos / photos available to you

  Step 5 - Downloading your clips / photos

  To your mobile device

  - Click on the photo / clip

  - Click on download

  - The clip / photo will be downloaded to your FILES app on your mobile

  - Click on the download and save to your phone and then it will appear in your gallery

  Step 6 - Sharing your photos / videos

  If you’d like to share a video clip with a family member or close friend, you’re able to do this from the video clip page. This feature enables the video clip to be made available on a unique, randomly-generated url for a period of 24 hours. Once logged in, click on “Share video for 24 hours” from the video clip

  Step 7 - How to access messages sent from the unit and reply

  - Go to your vCreate homescreen

  - Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and you will see 'My Messages'

  - Click 'Open' to read your message

  - You can also reply back to the message and press 'Send'

  Step 8 - How to access helpful information for parents

  - Click on My video clips

  - Choose My Clips on the drop down menu

  - Click on Helpful for videos and here you will find a range of useful videos to watch

  - Also Click on My Forms and here you will find a range of useful resources to read

  Step 9 - How to send your baby a video recording

  You can record videos and the neonatal staff will play these to your baby. You may want to say good night to your baby or read them a story.

  - To record a video go to record a clip via the vCreate homescreen

  - Press start

  - Take video

  - Record your video

  - Click use video in the bottom right corner of the screen

  - Give your video a title

  - Click upload

  A notification will then be sent to the unit and we can then play the video to your baby
