What is Waiting List Validation?
Waiting List validation is an NHS England scheme whereby patients on waiting lists are contacted, usually by text, letter, or phone call, to confirm if they still require treatment. This process helps to improve the accuracy of waiting lists by identifying patients who no longer need an appointment, reducing unnecessary waiting times, and ensuring that NHS resources are used efficiently.
The sender of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals text messages will be “NHS” and they will appear in the below format:
Hello Timmy, this is a message from
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. Please click the
link below, to our patient app, where there
are questions about your treatment with our
medical team.
After clicking the link, the patient will be required to enter their date of birth as a security measure, and will then be taken through questions about their treatment, and whether it is still required, or not.
