MISSION STATEMENT
Here at Royal Preston’s Level 3 NICU we work within a multi-disciplinary approach to provide the highest standard of care for babies born prematurely from 22 weeks gestation and above and for newborn babies who become unwell following birth.
We believe every baby has the right to be born in a hospital that is most equipped to care for their specific needs and that there is a highly skilled team of professionals available 24/7, providing world class, innovative and evidenced based care and treatments to ensure the best optimum outcome physically, emotionally and developmentally.
PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
We strive to provide a safe, nurturing environment and work with parents as partners in care, compassionately encouraging and supporting families to participate in all aspects of their baby's care through our family integrated care approach.
As a team we promote the ‘Baby Friendly Initiative’ supporting the best optimum nutritional start for all our babies.
The unit is actively involved in neonatal research and our staff are encouraged and supported in their personnel and professional development so to ensure we are continually improving and providing the best standard of care possible.
Every baby and their family are treated with respect and dignity and we fully understand how difficult and challenging this journey can be for parents, families and staff, so we endeavour to ensure we provide health and wellbeing support and maintain civility, open communication, privacy and confidentiality at all times.
