Apprenticeships at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Introduction
At Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, we believe apprenticeships are a vital part of developing our workforce, supporting our communities and delivering excellent patient care. Apprenticeships provide opportunities for people at all stages of their careers to gain recognised qualifications, develop new skills and progress within the NHS while earning and learning.
As one of the region's largest employers, we are committed to creating accessible routes into employment and career development for local people. Apprenticeships help us attract and retain talented individuals, support social mobility and develop sustainable workforce pipelines across both clinical and non-clinical professions.
Through our apprenticeship programmes, staff can:
- Gain nationally recognised qualifications.
- Develop specialist knowledge and professional skills.
- Progress into new roles and career pathways.
- Upskill and reskill to meet changing service needs.
- Achieve personal and professional career ambitions.
We are committed to ensuring apprenticeship opportunities are available across our organisation and accessible to colleagues from all backgrounds. We work closely with education and training providers to deliver high-quality learning experiences, supported by effective supervision and pastoral support.
Our apprenticeship approach supports workforce sustainability, career development and social value, helping us build a skilled workforce for the future while creating opportunities for the communities we serve.
Apprenticeship Opportunities
Our apprenticeship programmes are designed for people who are passionate about learning, motivated to succeed and ready to make a difference. Whether you are starting your career or looking for a new direction, we offer a wide range of opportunities across Healthcare, Business, Science, Engineering and many other areas.
As an apprentice at LTHTr, you will earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience from experienced professionals and taking on real responsibility from day one. You will work towards nationally recognised qualifications, supported by The Health Academy, our dedicated training provider, alongside a network of specialist local and national partners to ensure high-quality training that meets both your needs and the demands of modern healthcare.
We invest over £1.3 million in apprenticeships each year and are proud to retain around 90%of our apprentices after they complete their programmes, with many going on to further study or progressing their careers further within the Trust. With excellent staff benefits, strong pastoral support and a commitment to apprentice wellbeing, we provide an environment where you can grow in confidence, develop new skills and thrive as part of a diverse and inclusive team.
Choosing an apprenticeship with LTHTr means joining an organisation that values your potential, supports your development and offers clear pathways for career progression, while making a real difference to the communities we serve.
