Following a multi-million pound investment, our new Ophthalmology development at Chorley & South Ribble Hospital officially opened on Monday 13th December 2021.

Welcome to the Lancashire Eye Centre which is  fully equipped with the latest ophthalmic technology to help patients with ocular problems.

Our aim is to provide rapid assessment and treatment through the NHS referral process.

The Centre is a new and modern purpose-built facility providing state of the art facilities to all patients across our local communities in Lancashire and South Cumbria requiring urgent / emergency clinic services through the NHS.

The three-tier building includes a dedicated outpatient and diagnostic space as well as three additional theatres to provide extra capacity for patients requiring a variety of day case procedures.

Designed with the patient experience at the forefront, the various segments of the building are colour-coded to ease patient navigation and improve accessibility for those who may need additional support.

The service provides diagnostics and treatment for patients with medical eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, squints, eye lid/corneal problems, and eye injuries.

Urgent and emergency clinics, cataract services and all other specialist ophthalmic services including glaucoma, retina, paediatric, neuro-ophthalmic, oculoplastic and corneal,  all under one roof.

Our on-site consultant team has specialist expertise in oculoplastic, orbit and lacrimal surgery, glaucoma, diabetes, medical retina, vitreoretinal surgery, neuro ophthalmology and paediatric ophthalmology, and cornea and anterior segment diseases.

We also provide a full orthoptics service.

Our Cataract service has no waiting list, and we can offer a 6-week service from first referral to operation for everyone.

Outpatient clinics are held daily.

You can access the ophthalmology service via the NHS referral process normally through your GP or Optician.
