After Day Case: Day case surgeries are surgeries where you will be ordinary allowed home on the day of the surgery. This would have been previously discussed with you and preparations made to ensure it is safe to do so. You would have been contacted about things that will be needed to make this safe including having someone with you at home at the night of surgery.
After Inpatient Stay: If your surgery is likely to involve overnight stay, it would have been discussed with you and a plan agreed. Usually if the plan goes according to plan, your day of discharge would be close to expectations. Before discharge, you will be given individualized specific instructions and a plan instituted towards continued recovery.
Rehabilitation: This can be a long process and attempts to get you back to the level you where before having surgery. Depending on the type of surgery and your background fitness, it can involve collaborations with your specialist surgical team, the physiotherapist, your pharmacist, your GP amongst others.
