The urogynaecology service offers modern investigations and surgical techniques for the correction of vaginal prolapse and incontinence. The consultants are supported by a team of specialist nurses in urogynecology, colposcopy, sub-fertility, early pregnancy disorders, peri-operative management that support patients through their care. We are actively involved in many local and national research trials and patients might be asked to part take in research studies. Endometriosis is a common condition in women where tissue that behaves like the lining of the womb, is found outside the womb. Endometriosis affects around two million women in the UK and is a long-term condition that can cause pain, fertility problems and can also contribute to a lack of energy or depression. The Preston Endometriosis centre, offers holistic care to patients all across the North West. The centre has been awarded accreditation status by the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE.) We are one of only a few centres in the North West to achieve this status. The aim of the BSGE is to improve treatment for all patients with the disease. To receive the accreditation, our team had to demonstrate sufficient evidence and medical and surgical expertise and regular audits were carried out. “We are delighted to be awarded this accreditation. Endometriosis is a long-term condition and can be extremely distressing and painful for sufferers. We are pleased to be named as a specialist centre and we have a dedicated team who are committed to providing excellent care with compassion for our patients.” Dr Sujata Gupta, Lead Consultant Gynaecologist for Endometriosis Gynaecologist: Dr Sujata Gupta Endometriosis Specialist Nurse: Ms Emma Fleet Colorectal surgeon: Mr Arnab Bhowmick Urologist: Mr Shyam Matanhelia Pain management specialist: Dr Shiva S Tripathi Data Manager: Ms Emma Fleet From M6 motorway, exit junction 32.
