Specialist Interests
I have developed interests in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Liver disease including viral hepatitis B and C and alcoholic liver disease.
I am clinical lead for the Multidisciplinary Nutrition team and look after individuals with intestinal failure on the surgical and medical wards and in an outpatient setting.
I undertake all forms of endoscopy including diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy, colonoscopy and ERCP. I run the small bowel video capsule service.
I am an accredited bowel cancer screening program colonoscopist.
I take an active role in training and am currently the NW Deanery Training Program Director supervising all NW Trainees in gastroenterology.
I am a Senior Lecturer affiliated with Salford University.
Research
I am investigator for various clinical trials in liver disease, and also bowel cancer screening.

Biography
I qualified from Nottingham University in 1990 and trained in General medicine in Nottingham before moving to central Midlands Gastroenterology Rotation. I developed skills in clinical nutrition and I spent 5 years at the Birmingham Liver Unit where I completed a PHD on T cell immunology in hepatitis C and liver inflammation and gained experience of liver transplantation and liver diseases. I commenced in Preston as a Consultant Gastroenterologist in 2001.
