Specialist Interests
Mr O’Mahony qualified from Cork University Dental School and Hospital in 2010. Following graduation, he undertook vocational training on the West Coast of Scotland. He spent his foundation training in Glasgow, split between Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Paediatric Dentistry and Special Care Dentistry. He then spent 6 months as a Senior House Officer in Special Care Dentistry and Oral Surgery in Dundee Dental Hospital before moving to the North West to take up specialist training. He qualified as a Specialist in Special Care Dentistry in 2016 and worked for Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust before joining Lancashire Teaching Hospitals as a consultant in March 2017. Since then he has worked to develop the Special Care Dentistry service at the trust. Taking up the role as managed clinical network chair for Special Care Dentistry, has allowed him to develop services regionally. He is currently leading a review of how Special Care Dentistry services are delivered across Lancashire and South Cumbria.
