We are proud to announce that Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been re-accredited as a Veteran Aware organisation by the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA), reaffirming our ongoing commitment to providing the best possible care and support to veterans, reservists, members of the armed forces community, and their families.
This prestigious recognition comes as we mark Armed Forces Week — a time when we honour and celebrate the men and women who serve, or have served, in the British Armed Forces.
Being Veteran Aware means we:
- Understand the specific needs of veterans and the wider armed forces community
- Train staff to be aware of and responsive to those needs
- Display the Armed Forces Covenant, making our pledge visible to patients and staff
- Signpost veterans and their families to relevant support services
- Ensure policies reflect the commitment to equitable care
Silas Nicholls, Chief Executive of the Trust, said: "We are delighted to be re-accredited as a Veteran Aware Trust. This demonstrates our commitment to honouring the Armed Forces Covenant and ensuring that those who have served our country receive care that recognises their unique experiences and needs. During Armed Forces Week, we take extra pride in highlighting our ongoing support for the military community."
The re-accreditation reflects the dedication of our teams across the Trust who work to create an inclusive, respectful environment for everyone — including those who have served in the armed forces.
