Radio 2 is coming to Preston to host three days of incredible live music from some of the world’s biggest pop stars this weekend... and some of their presenters are popping into our Hospital Radio studio at Royal Preston Hospital on the way!
Moor Park will be the setting as Sting headlines on Saturday, playing after Sugababes, Snow Patrol, Craig David, Kim Wilde, Pixie Lott, Shaznay Lewis and Travis with Pet Shop Boys on Sunday topping a bill including Manic Street Preachers, Sister Sledge feat. Kathy Sledge, Paul Heaton, Gabrielle, Shed Seven, Delta Goodrem and Haircut 100.
Radio 2 DJs will play a Pre-Party in the park on Friday night and on Saturday and Sunday, including the legendary Tony Blackburn who, as revealed today on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, is make a special visit to the Trust this afternoon to broadcast on Hospital Radio from 2-4pm. He will be live on air and reading out requests from listeners and patients.

Earlier today, Radio 2’s Richie Anderson also broadcast live on Hospital Radio from 7.30 – 8.30am, with Stefanie Johnson, Head of Recruitment & Volunteers, who spoke live on air with Radio 2 Breakfast Show’s presenter Scott Mills.
Trust Chief Executive Silas Nicholls said: “The Hospital Radio volunteers provide a fantastic service, lifting the spirits of patients, families and staff, and it was great to host Richie Anderson and the legendary Tony Blackburn. To have them step in and assist with our shows was a nice surprise for all, ahead of what is set to be an exciting weekend for BBC Radio 2."
