Art Competition - Local schools invited to tell us which environmental issues matter most

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is hosting a special art competition aimed at finding out more about the environmental issues that most to the young people of Lancashire and South Cumbria.

The Trust is hosting a sustainability themed art competition aimed at young people aged 11 or under. We’re inviting young people to draw a poster telling us how we can look after the planet and environment better as part of our Green Plan. This can be done individually or as part of a class project.

Tell us which environmental issues matter most

Environmental issues like global warming, air pollution and carbon emissions pose a threat to the health and wellbeing of our local communities. As a large organisation, the NHS has a significant impact on the communities in which it operates, and each NHS Trust in England has been asked to produce a Green Plan outlining a strategy to reduce the impact its day-to-day activities have on the local environment. We want local children to tell us what environmental issues matter most to them – and what we can do to look after the planet to help inform our Green Plan.

How to enter

All you need to do to take part is submit an A4 drawing, painting or design based on the theme ‘What does it mean to look after our planet?’. Entrants are asked to keep the original drawing and e-mail a photo of the poster to our Sustainability team at: sustainabilityhub@lthtr.nhs.uk with the child’s name, category and contact details no later than 5pm on 26th May 2023.

You can find more information and some useful tips on the promotional poster.

Prizes will be awarded for the best entries, courtesy of the Trust’s Charity Team. The winners will be announced on 5th June 2023 and will be invited to meet the Trust’s Chief Executive, Kevin McGee to accept their prize on 21st June 2023.

The winning entries will also be displayed in our hospitals at Preston and Chorley and via our intranet, website and social media channels, to help us spread the word about the importance of looking after our environment. Good luck!
