Six Lancashire Teaching Hospitals apprentices have been shortlisted for the Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Health & Social Care Apprenticeship Awards 2023, along with the Trust itself.

Nominations for the 11 award categories were open to organisations, training providers, or apprentices themselves, with all nominees working towards, or having completed in the last 12 months, an apprenticeship at an NHS Health & Social Care organisation within Lancashire & South Cumbria.

Jacqueline Higham, Head of Widening Participation & Apprenticeships, said: “I am delighted to hear that we had a number of our apprentices shortlisted for an award.

“Despite these challenging times the NHS is currently facing, our dedicated apprentices work hard and deserve every bit of positive recognition. Congratulations to you all and best of luck.”

In the running for honours at the annual black-tie event at Imperial Banqueting Preston, on Friday 19 May are:

  • Rachel Clark (for Above & Beyond Award, Sponsored by Runshaw College);
  • Gemma Abbott (for Equality & Diversity Award, Sponsored by Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub);
  • Rebecca Pattman (for Equality & Diversity Award, Sponsored by Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub, and Perseverance Award, Sponsored by Preston College);
  • Karen Gore (for Promotion Award, Sponsored by Blackburn College);
  • Tanya Marlow (for Promotion Award, Sponsored by Blackburn College);
  • Sarah Rostron-Hall (for Promotion Award, Sponsored by Blackburn College);

Last year was the first Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Health & Social Care Apprenticeship Awards, hosted by BBC One’s the Apprentice contestant, Aaron Willis, at Mellor’s Stanley House Hotel and Spa.

Lancashire Teaching Hospital’s Widening Participation Tutor, Olivia Dymond, secured herself a highly commended award after coming runner up in the category of ‘Non-clinical Apprentice of the Year’ for her hard work and dedication on the Level 6 Career Development apprenticeship standard.
