Local care provider holding 24 hour cyclathon to raise money for people with life-limiting conditions

Local care provider Clifton Homecare are holding a sponsored 24-hour cyclathon to raise money for the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity and Trinity Hospice.

The team will be cycling for 24 hours starting at 9am on Friday 17th July and finishing at 9am Saturday 18th July. Taking part are Alysson, Lauren, Genna, Jacqui, Ciara, Nicole and Melissa.

Caroline Brady, Managing Director at Clifton Homecare, will be on hand to offer support, refreshments and to ensure social distancing.

The funds raised for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity will be awarded to the Motor Neurone Disease Team for MND Research, while Trinity Hospice and the associated Brian House Children’s Hospice will receive funds to help adults experiencing life-limiting/palliative conditions and children with life-limiting conditions.

Caroline said:

“We will soon be donning our Lycra and pedalling away to raise funds for two charities that are very important to us! We know how much charities are struggling at this time due to Covid-19, and we want to show our support for two very special local charities who provide amazing support for our community. Our target is £1,000 and we will split the amount we raise between the two charities. Motor Neurone Disease is an extremely cruel and devastating thing for patients and their loved ones to go through, as are all life-limiting conditions, so we would greatly appreciate our community’s support in sponsoring our cyclathon!”

Roya Armstrong, Fundraising Coordinator at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said:

“I speak for the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity and our Motor Neurone Disease Team when I say we are so excited about this fundraiser! A 24-hour cyclathon is an amazing idea and to be donating the money to such well-deserving teams is simply wonderful. Our MND team work so hard in the fight against this terrible disease, and we know that Trinity Hospice and Brian House are supporting people in the community with life-limiting conditions in incredible ways. Thank you to everyone at Clifton Homecare for your kindness – it really does go a long way!”

Janet Atkins, Corporate Partnership Manager at Trinity Hospice, said:

“What a wonderful event helping to support Brian House, where we offer respite care to the most fragile children in our community. We love the idea of an outdoor/indoor cyclathon and our children can’t wait to be able to get out and play again after the changes caused by the Covid pandemic. From everyone at Brian House, a massive thank you for raising money for us, especially when all our mass participation events this summer have been cancelled. You are stars!”

The team will ensure social distancing throughout the 24 hour period and minimal staff will be in the office at the time of completion ensuring safety for all.
