Local family-run D&G Builders and Joiners are showing their continued support for their local NHS by donating £1,000 to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals has enjoyed a fantastic working relationship with D&G Builders for many years, having worked together on numerous projects to improve facilities for both staff and patients.
More recently, the company completed a refurbishment of the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity offices, and generously took away all management fees, overheads and profits on labour and materials to ensure the overall cost of the project was as low as it possible could be. D&G Builders also completed the refurbishment of the brand new freestanding Chorley Birth Centre, which opened on 14th December 2020.
Emma Turner, Managing Director at D&G Builders, said:
“There aren’t really the words to describe what we think of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals! The Trust is incredibly important to us as it is our local hospital and serves our community. We are lucky to see the hard work that the staff in all departments do day in, day out and this has only been highlighted by the pandemic. We have worked with the Trust for over 30 years, and this has enabled us to provide many jobs and apprenticeships over the years. We would like to show our gratitude with helping the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity at any opportunity and form a strong working partnership where we can offer support wherever possible.
“On a more personal note, in recent years the Trust has performed an emergency operation on my niece at 2 years old after an infection in her hip – my brother is also a director at D&G, so this is extremely close to our hearts. My dad, who has just retired as MD, has been under the care of Cardiac Unit and my grandad, the founder of D&G, has been receiving chemotherapy throughout the pandemic after being sadly diagnosed with cancer during the first lockdown. We have all seen the professionalism of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals staff from so many angles every day.”
Paula Wilson, Head of Charities and Fundraising at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said:
“We are so lucky to have such a fantastic working relationship with Emma and her team at D&G Builders and Joiners, and their continued support is invaluable to us. Not only do they deliver work of an incredibly high quality, they are genuinely lovely people and we are thrilled to have them alongside us.
“We want to say a huge thank you to the whole family for their very kind donation, and we know that this money will go a long way to making further improvements for the staff, patients and visitors at our hospitals.”
