It’s Healthcare Science Week (11-15 March) and it’s a great opportunity to find out more about the diverse range of healthcare science careers available within the NHS.
Healthcare science has an important role within the NHS. Did you know that over 55,000 colleagues work in healthcare science in the NHS in over 50 different scientific specialisms such as biochemistry, cellular pathology and immunology?
The work of our healthcare science colleagues underpins over a billion diagnostic investigations and treatment interventions a year, accounting for 80% of NHS diagnostic tests. Their work impacts three in four of all clinical decisions made in the NHS.
Meet some of our Healthcare Scientists
This week, you can meet some of the colleagues who work in healthcare sciences at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, who explain what they find most rewarding about the work they do in our laboratories.
Callum Goolden – Trainee Clinical Scientist in Microbiology
Sian Josse – Trainee Clinical Scientist
Susan Hibbert – Senior Biomedical Scientist in Cellular Pathology
Aisha Patel – Biomedical Scientist
