‘Wear the rainbow’ to raise vital funds for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity is launching their very first virtual Rainbow Run on Monday 5th October.

The charity team are asking supporters to run, walk, cycle or even scoot their chosen route and distance and gain sponsorship to raise funds to help improve staff and patient experience at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

Participants can complete their chosen distance any time between Monday 5th October and Sunday 25th October, with the freedom to complete the distance all in one go or gradually over the three-week event period.

People of all ages can get involved, whether families want to do a 1k Rainbow Toddle or keen runners who want to complete a full marathon, this event really is open to everyone.

Roya Armstrong, Fundraising Coordinator at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said:

“We are so excited about our very first virtual Rainbow Run! Not only is this great fun for the whole family, but it is symbolic too – the image of a rainbow has represented hope in recent months and we wanted to embrace this for our latest event! We encourage anyone who would like to support their local NHS to get involved, whether you want to do regular walks with colleagues, do a half or full marathon or get some exercise with the kids! Any support is massively appreciated, and the only thing we ask is that you follow the most up-to-date Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing.”

The Trust’s Education Centre team have decided to show their support and will be embarking on a ‘Rainbow Walk’. The team will be walking part of the Guild Wheel and whilst looking to help support the charity by raising funds, they also thought it would be make a team building event out of the day too.
