Biography
Mr Gary P Boland, BSc (Hons), MB, ChB, FRCS(Eng and Glasg), FRCS(Gen) Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, graduated from the Victoria University in Manchester in 1992. He commenced higher surgical training in the north west of England in 1997.
He completed a National Breast Oncoplastic Fellowship in Leeds General infirmary and St James’ Infirmary, before taking up his role as a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon at Lancashire Teaching Hospital in 2006.
He has also worked as a Locum Consultant Surgeon at Royal Bolton Hospital between 2004 and 2005. During his training, he gained considerable experience in oncoplastic breast surgery, including immediate breast reconstruction. He undertook two years of research at the University of South Manchester in the field of breast cancer. During this time, he worked at the Christie Hospital and was involved in molecular biological research into early breast cancer (ductal carcinoma in situ), has published a number of research papers in peer reviewed journals and has written book chapters on this subject.
He has an interest in all aspects of oncoplastic breast surgery and therapeutic mammoplasty. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at both the University of Salford and the University of East Anglia and is a member of the Faculty for the Teaching of Breast Reconstruction at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
