Earlier this week the Estates team at RPH helped to rescue a large swarm of honey bees that had gathered on the waste yard fencing.
The bees had shown no sign of moving on after several hours so a local beekeeper, Viki Cuthbertson, was contacted and she very kindly came out to help.
Viki brought a mobile hive with her and as soon as the bees smelt this, they quickly started to go inside it.
A few hours later she returned and nearly all the bees were inside the mobile hive and on their way to their new home.
We are very grateful to Viki for all of her help and advice.
Bees are a crucial part of our ecosystems as they pollinate our food crops, as well as trees and flowers that provide habitats for our wildlife.
So it is extremely important that we play our part in protecting them.
