Career History: Mr Bhattacharyya was awarded his MBBS from Calcutta Medical College in 1985. He achieved his postgraduate Diploma in Ophthalmology from Aligarh Muslim University in 1986. He later worked in Kanpur OEF Hospital up to 1989.

He trained in hospitals in Rotherham, Warrington and Glan Clwyd in St. Asaph, North Wales.  He joined the Ophthalmology department of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 1994.

His specialty areas include general ophthalmology with special interest in Medical retina. Other speciality areas include complex cataract surgery, treatment of retinopathies due to diabetes mellitus and hypertension, macular disorders and ocular inflammation. Also, his interest extends to laser treatment for various retinal disorders and retinal tears and intraocular injection treatment.
