Neonatal and maternity charity Baby Beat, with the support of local shops and supermarkets, celebrated new mums and their babies being cared for at Lancashire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust this Mother’s Day.

In a year filled with sadness and families spending much time apart, this Mother’s Day will have had many different meanings for families across Lancashire and South Cumbria.

img To brighten this precious experience, Mother’s Day Gifts were kindly donated to the maternity unit by the Baby Beat Charity for all new mothers who were in Lancashire Teaching Hospitals on Mother’s Day. The gifts included toiletries, perfumes, chocolate, and special branded Baby Beat Mother’s Day vests for the newborn babies which were wrapped by the Baby Beat team of volunteers.

Cathy Skidmore, Baby Beat manager, said: “It’s been a tremendously difficult year for families and certainly for families with new babies.  So on this special day for all mothers, in the sadness of what has been happening around us; we wanted to celebrate the new mums being cared for in our hospitals and the positivity of new babies being born every day.”

In total, 75 Mother’s Day gifts were donated and Baby Beat would like to thank all of the businesses which helped to make this Mother’s Day extra special: Morrisons Deepdale, Sainsbury’s Deepdale, Boots Capital Centre, Tesco Leyland and M&S Fishergate.

Janet Cotton, Divisional Midwifery and Nursing Director has also expressed her gratitude to Baby Beat for their ongoing support and to the local companies for their donated gifts, and said: “The donated gifts made the experience for our new mums who were in our hospitals this Mother’s Day extra special and we hope all of our mums have many more memorable days to look forward to with their babies.”
