Faith leaders encourage others to become vaccinated

Imam Khalid Ibrahim and Martin McDonald Lead Chaplain Pastoral Care, both had their flu vaccines and Covid-19 Booster jabs this morning at the Royal Preston Hospital Hub.

As you will all be aware, people from Black Asian and Minority Ethnic Minority Communities are at a higher risk from Covid-19 than those from other communities. In light of this, it is extremely important that we understand any barriers that are preventing members of these communities from accessing the Covid-19 vaccination.

Imam Khalid Ibrahim is very clear that the Covid-19 vaccine is permissible under Islam.

Our Pharmacy team have done an ingredient check of the three flu vaccines we have in stock.

There are no meat related products in any of the vaccines, this includes gelatine content.

We do have vaccines which have egg based ingredients, however a cell based alternative vaccine is available and in stock.

If any of our Muslim colleagues or their families have on-going concerns about accessing the vaccination, our Imams would be very pleased to talk to you about this.

If you are from a different faith and also have concerns do still get in touch with our Chaplaincy team who will be able to put you in touch with someone who can explore this further with you.
