Career history:

I entered Bristol University Medical School at the age of 23 as a mature student, having previously trained as a Scientist. I graduated in 1989 with a Distinction in Anatomy. I subsequently worked as a Junior Doctor in General Medicine in hospitals in the South West. After becoming a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1992 I worked in the Neurology and Clinical Genetics Departments in Oxford for three years, where I did my research degree. I subsequently underwent my neurology training in hospitals again in the South West from 1996 to 2001.

I was appointed a Consultant Neurologist at Royal Preston Hospital in November 2001. A substantial part of my time is spent working in North Lancashire. My special interest is in peripheral nerve disease and I am part of a multidisciplinary team for patients with peripheral neuropathies at Royal Preston Hospital. I am the Neurology Lead for the Neurology component of the Lancaster University School of Health and Medicine Year 3 ‘Brain and Mind’ module Specialist areas: Peripheral neuropathy
