Career history: Qualified from Manchester University and worked as a House Officer in Wythenshawe and Blackpool. I then worked in an emergency department in Brisbane, and after a short spell in medicine, I began my anaesthesia training in the North West. Specialist areas: As the clinical director I share responsibility for the day to day running with the matron and manager. That means making sure that our patient care is the best it can be and the department is safe and efficient. I also have a strategic role: making sure that our service will meet the needs of our patients over the next five years. We are currently building a new intensive care which will have better facilities and more beds. We are also expanding our workforce to ensure we deliver the best care that we can.
Specialists interests: I have special interests in delirium, rehabilitation and echocardiography, and I have led several large IT projects in the hospital.
