Career history:

 Mr  Davies was appointed a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Preston in 2019.  Having previously trained as an Optometrist, Mr Davies attended the University of Manchester Medical School, graduating in 2008.  He combined his medical degree with French language studies and also trained in Lausanne, Switzerland (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois and Jules Gonin Eye Hospital).  After Foundation training at Salford Royal Hospital, in 2010 he began his ophthalmic surgical training in Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and the North Western Deanery.  During his training he completed an MSc in Investigative Ophthalmology and was awarded distinction. He took time out of training to complete an educational fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, where he also worked within the Vitreoretinal service.  He then completed two years of subspecialist training in Vitreoretinal Retinal Surgery including the VR Fellowship at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.  He has published 10 papers in peer reviewed journals, presented his work nationally and takes a keen interest in training the next generation of ophthalmic surgeons.
