Undertook laboratory based research in the field of Chronic Kidney Disease progression and kidney transplantation that led to the award of MD degree from the University of Sheffield in 2008. Appointed as a renal consultant at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2009.

Longest surviving kidney transplant going strong for fifty years
Staff in the renal department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust held a celebratory event this week for a patient to mark the fiftieth year since he received his kidney transplant. This is possibly the longest surviving current kidney transplant on record in the UK.
