After Critical Care - Patient Support Group
Helen Willott is a previous patient of our critical care unit. Her experiences in the unit have motivated her to set up a patient support group. With the help of one of our sisters, Elaine Walmsley we have organised dates for initial meetings.
For many people involvement with critical care is a daunting experience. For some it is part of the care plan after major surgery but for many others it is a sudden and unexpected event. You find yourself in an alien environment unlike any you've known before where patients are connected to all kinds of machines and drips, where you might not be able to tell day from night and where there may be constant noise and activity.
Both patients and relatives are invited, being able to talk about what you have all been through with people who understand, because they've been through it too, can really help. If you feel you could talk, listen and share your experiences, we'd like to meet you.
Due to the popularity of our Saturday meetings, it has been decided that we will alternate our Critical Care Patient and Relative Support Group ‘drop-ins’ between Thursdays and Saturdays. Here are the dates for 2018:
|Saturday 2nd February 2019||11:00am - 12:30pm|
|Saturday 23rd March 2019||11:00am - 12:30pm|
|Saturday 18th May 2019||11:00am - 12:30pm|
