The Trust is pleased to be able to offer short-term observational work experience to individuals who are considering a career in the NHS. However, before requesting an application form, please note the following points :
- Placement availability is subject both to the terms of the Trust’s Work Experience policy, and the requirements of individual departments.
- Some departments are unable to offer work experience. These include: A & E, Women's Health, Child Health, Physiotherapy, Clinical Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy. The Trust's Work Experience policy prohibits students from observing any procedure in Theatres.
- For students in academic years ten and eleven, placements can only be arranged in non-clinical areas (i.e. no patient contact). The law states that work experience for this age group must be form an official part of the academic curriculum.
- For students in academic years twelve and above, or mature applicants, it may be possible to arrange observational placements in relevant clinical areas.
- Demand for placements greatly exceeds capacity, particularly at peak times of the year (e.g. summer holidays for Year 12/13 students), and applications will be dealt with on a “first-come first served “ basis. In all cases a minimum of six weeks notice is required.
- Due to the level of demand, applications will only be considered from individuals who either live and/or study in Chorley or Preston.
