Lancashire Teaching Hospitals

No Smoking Policy

From 1 July 2007 it became against the law to smoke in the hospital buildings or entrances.  There are a number of designated smoking shelters in the hospital grounds.  If you are a smoker and you think you may have difficulty in observing these restrictions while an in-patient, please speak to your nurse, midwife or doctor.

The Trust supports the use of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and your nurse or doctor will be happy to discuss this with you.  NRT can be prescribed for the duration of your stay and if you wish to stop smoking altogether we can refer you to a specialist stop smoking service.
