Safety and Quality strategy 2014 - 2017

Our Safety and Quality strategy – Safe, Reliable and Compassionate.

Nurse and doctors by patientThe strategy document describes our priorities and sets out our ambitions and intention to deliver meaningful quality improvements for our patients over the next three years

In publishing the strategy we make clear our ongoing commitment to focus on improvements that remain fundamentally crucial to the delivery of care and treatment that is safe, effective and provides positive experiences for patients and their families.

Within the strategy we describe the means by which we will monitor quality performance over the next three years. Performance information will continue to be made available to all through our board reporting arrangements and in each ward. We believe that this openness and transparency is strengthening public trust and confidence.

We will provide services that are flexible and responsive to the changing landscape of healthcare, ensuring that these services are able to adapt to changes in national and local priorities, new ideas, evidence and technologies. We are committed to learn from the experiences of patients, their families and staff, both here at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals and elsewhere

Over the next three years we will:

  • Achieve 98% harm-free hospital care for our patients by 2017

  • Reduce inpatient mortality by 15% over the next three years

  • Achieve a minimum of 90% positive feedback from patients in respect of their overall experience of care
