Practice Education Facilitators

The Practice Placement Partnership project was originally implemented following publication of the documents 'Fitness for Practice' and 'Making a Difference' which recommended a change in the higher education curriculum to ensure that any theory practice gap in nurse education was reduced.  This new curriculum became known as the 'Making a Difference Curriculum'.

Other documents further underpinned this need for change and made similar recommendations.  Practice Placement Facilitators were then appointed to work within the practice placement areas.  Their roles involve supporting students and their mentors on our Trust.

In 2009 a new North West Clinical Placement infrastructure was proposed and implemented. This included increasing the number of Facilitators from two to four, working interprofessionally and changing their role title to Practice Education Facilitators.
