Publication of article
The PEFS, a Student Nurse and one of our Sign Off Mentors are very pleased to announce that an article they collaborated on has now been accepted for publication by the British Journal Of Nursing.
Students who entered nurse training from September 2007 onwards are now required to have a sign-off mentor in their final clinical placement. The sign-off mentor is responsible for confirming to the Nursing and Midwifery Council that a student nurse has met all the requirements of pre-registration clinical assessment and can be registered as a nurse. This became mandatory in September 2010, and our article describes how as an NHS foundation Trust we implemented and managed this process.
The article can be found as follows:
British Journal of Nursing, Vol. 20, Iss. 19, 26 Oct 2011, pp 1252 - 1255
Pre Registration Nursing Curriculum
The new NMC Pre Reg curriculum standards were launched in September 2010. The new standards will apply to all pre-registration nursing education programmes approved from 16th. September 2010. Uclan and the local Trusts have worked together to write a new 2012 Curriculum which will meet the above standards. We are now at the stage were Module descriptors are out to consultation. It is hoped that there will be minor changes to Practice Assessment documentation during this change.
