The nutrition and dietetic service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is currently provided by Central Lancashire Primary Care Trust.
We provide a Dietetic service to all the wards at Royal Preston and Chorley & South Ribble Hospitals and have staff who work in a variety of specialist areas including Paediatrics, Renal Medicine, Oncology, Parenteral Nutrition, Neurology and Gastroenterology.
The Dietetic team based at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals provide Practical Placements for Dietetic Students from the University of Chester.
The Placements are a combination of acute and community Dietetics and are provided in conjunction with Dietetic colleagues in the community.
The Students have three placements to complete: Awareness (4 weeks), Building (12 weeks) and Consolidation (12 weeks). It is necessary to successfully complete each placement. We currently provide Placements for two of each of the above types of Placement per academic year. Six Students per year in total.
Students are expected to undertake each of their three placements at a different training centre.
