We are one of the largest Critical Care Units in the North West of England, admitting around 1600 patients every year. We provide tertiary neuro-critical care, major trauma, and vascular services for the 1.5 million people living in Lancashire and South Cumbria. Royal Preston Hospital is one of only 22 adult major trauma centres in England.
Critically ill patients may need sedation, support for breathing, multiple infusions of medications and fluids, complex monitoring or supportive treatments such as renal dialysis. Critically ill patients usually receive one to one care from a dedicated nurse.
Our critical care unit is one of the largest in the North West of England.
We look after more than 1600 patients every year.
