

Stuart Heys is a native of Lancashire, being born in Rossendale and living in Preston since 2002. He retired at the beginning of January 2008 as Managing Director of Leyland Trucks after a 35-year career with British Leyland and Leyland Truck Ltd. During his time there, he was keen to show the company as a modern, innovative and caring organisation. He has mentored local school children and worked with local prisons to help newly released ex-offenders to re-establish themselves into society. He has introduced forklift driver classes directly into prison to enable ex-offenders to obtain jobs when released.
A supporter of Business in the Community, Stuart has carried out a variety of activities in this region for the Charity. He was appointed HRH The Prince of Wales BiTC Ambassador for the North West in 2003.

A professionally qualified Chartered banker and a Chartered Company Secretary, Stephen has nearly 40 years business experience. His career includes 20 years as a CEO and Executive Director of the Chorley and District Building Society, and periods as a Non-Executive Director with Mutual Vision Technology Limited, Chorley Community Housing Association, Lancashire College and the Catholic Building Society, where he was either Chair of the Audit or Finance Committees. Currently Stephen is a Trustee and Museum Director of the British Commercial Vehicle Museum and also a member of the Strategic Board of Lancashire Adult Learning ( a Directorate of Lancashire County Council), where he is Chair of the Finance and Resources Committee.
Stephen is Chair of the Audit Committee, member of the Endowment Fund Committee and of the Remuneration and Terms of Service at the Trust and is the Senior Independent Director.

Robert Clarke
Robert Clarke currently runs a successful dairy farm business, as well as being a Director of Farm Plastics Recycling Ltd and a Non-Executive Director of Dairy Farmers of Britain Ltd. From a young age, Robert had a strong involvement in agricultural voluntary youth organisations and developed an interest in agricultural politics and wider business issues, which led to a number of representative roles and boardroom positions. Previous roles have included a Non-Executive Director of Zenith Milk Ltd and Director of the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers.

Richard Fraser
Richard Fraser is semi-retired following over 20 years of experience as a Board Director of local companies, including working as an Executive member of the successful Enterprise plc. His background has involved working in service led organisations with strong regulatory frameworks, often in partnership with public sector organisations. Currently he has a Non Executive Director post on the Government Sector Skills Council where he is Head of the Audit Committee.
Richard is a qualified Mechanical and Civil Engineer and still retains involvement in this sector having served as Chairman of the Institution of Civil Engineers Management Group for the North West and National Chairman of the Pipeline Industries Guild.

Iain Hall
Iain Hall is a recently retired local GP, who has practised in the Chorley area for almost 30 years and served on various health service bodies (Chorley and South Ribble Health Authority, South Lancashire Health Authority, Chorley and South Ribble Professional Executive Committee). He has an awareness of local health needs and well established professional networks. He has been extensively involved in improving relationships with local GPs, including a series of meetings about the 18 week target and the development of the Assessment and Treatment Centre at Chorley. He is also a member of the Board of the Trust’s Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
Iain is a member of the Remuneration and Terms of Service Committee and Chair of the Endowment Fund Committee at the Trust.

Lynn Hamer is Vice-Chair of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Lynn has a business background at a senior management level in the competitive retail sector, with proven expertise in the areas of marketing, business development and customer focus. She was a Non-Executive Director of Chorley and South Ribble Primary Care Trust, a position she held from 2003 and also has strong community links in that area. Lynn takes a lead Non-Executive Director role in the important area of infection prevention and is a member of the Infection Control Committee. An important part of her role is to liaise with members of the Governing Council.

Shamim Mahomed
Shamim Mahomed is a qualified accountant with 20 years experience and is responsible for the establishment of SKM Chartered Accountants, a successful accountancy firm. Her previous roles have included serving as the President of the North West Society of Chartered Accountants.
From 1997-2006 she was a Non Executive Director of Preston Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, serving on the Board during the successful application for Foundation Trust status.
Shamim’s past experience and commitment to local health services will ensure that she is well placed to assist in determining the future direction of the Trust.

Rory McCloy was appointed as a representative from Manchester University from 1 February 2006. He is a Consultant Surgeon with a distinguished academic profile, who is extremely important in helping to drive forward the Trust’s educational and research agenda and determining future strategy in these areas. Rory has a continuing academic interest in new healthcare technologies and is on the Department of Health NEAT (New and Emerging Applications of Technology) programme management committee. He is still actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate surgical education and has headed the development of new intercollegiate basic surgical skills programmes at The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Rory is a member of the Remuneration and Terms of Service Committee and Risk Management Committee at the Trust.

With over 28 years management experience in the NHS, he was appointed as Chief Executive of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 2002, following the merger of Chorley and South Ribble NHS Trust and Preston Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and was instrumental in leading the successful Foundation Trust application. As well as involvement in a number of regional and national groups within the NHS, he is a Director of the North and Western Chamber of Commerce.
Tony is a member of the Risk Management Committee, in attendance at the Audit Committee and the Remuneration and Terms of Service Committee at the Trust.

Sean Hughes was appointed as Medical Director on 1 April 2009. He is still an active clinician, with an interest in high-risk obstetrics and recurrent miscarriage. He has been a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Trust for ten years, serving as Clinical Director for five years. As Medical Director he will be responsible for the clinical leadership and direction of the Trust. Previously Sean was extensively involved with doctors in training as a Foundation Programme Director and he serves on the Sexual Assault and Forensic Evidence Centre Board.

Sue Reed – Nursing Director
Sue was appointed Nursing Director at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in October 2003. As an Executive Director of the Trust she has responsibility for the professional leadership of nursing and midwifery, she also plays a lead role in the work on Board assurance and the development of the Trust's Quality Strategy. She started nursing in 1974 and has held a number of Nursing Management positions, most recently being Director of Nursing & Quality at Bolton Hospitals NHS Trust.

Paul Havey has worked at Finance Director level within the NHS for seventeen years. He is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the Trust's finances and joined the Trust from Chorley and South Ribble Primary Care Trust where he was Director of Finance, Information and Performance. He has also worked as Director of Finance for a number of Health Authorities.
Paul is a member of the Risk Management Committee, Endowment Fund Committee and in attendance at the Audit Committee.

Karen Partington - Chief Operating Officer

Appointed Chief Operating Officer in April 2008, Karen Partington has held a number of senior posts in management, most recently as Divisional General Manager at Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Karen has over 27 years experience in working within acute hospitals in the North West and North Wales. Her role at the Trust is to manage performance and outcome targets and in doing so, provide a clinically excellent service for patients.
Karen is a member of the Risk Management Committee at the Trust.
