Our catering team wins regional award

catering team award

Our catering department has been named as winner of the ‘North West team of the year’ category at the North West Catering Awards 2016.

The annual North West catering awards, hosted by the Hospital Caterers Association recognises the excellent work that takes place in hospital catering departments.

catering team award Our team won the award for the range of new ideas and initiatives that they have introduced, including afternoon tea parties for dementia patients, themed menus for events such as valentines and Halloween and encouraging younger patients to make healthy fruit salads and smoothies.

Our catering department also achieved good results in the PLACE survey (patient-led assessment of the hospital care environment) and they have put processes in place to improve relationships with staff on the wards to reduce food waste.

Helen Littlehales, Catering Services Manager at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I nominated the team because I am extremely proud of everything they have achieved and the new ideas that they have implemented, particularly while the NHS is going through such a challenging time. I am delighted that they have won this award and that their continued hard work and dedication to the service has been recognised.”
